Chalk Utah reunion, Boyd cabin, school, & SEMINARY!

Chalk family reunion in Utah! Fun road trip thru Colorado.. 48 cousins/aunts/uncles in all, and prayers for Bill who couldn't make it at the last minute from getting sick! So fun to hang together.

And FINALLY getting to play at Steff B's dream-come-true hidden wilderness cabin!

1ST DAY OF SCHOOL - 8th and 11th grade!

Stephen's enjoying his mission! So fun to chat and see his cute face...I feel like we've never talked this long! He's sounding so mature and sweet and says it's all really not that hard and his Spanish is coming along and he loves it. I haven't heard him sound so relaxed and happy before. Completely at ease, said he loves his mission president more than he can say, he saw his first attractive Latina girl today so that was funny. He is so grateful he has Elder Vargas because he's the best missionary companion ever and totally not lazy like other people apparently are that he hears about, but he knows his time will come to get a companion like that and he knows that will teach him patience. He said he feels like he's changed so much and he's a different person from when he was at home and stressed about everything, he's not as much of a perfectionist now and he would be so totally happy never becoming a district or zone leader or AP, even though lots of people tell him that's what's going to happen. But he just wants to be a proselytizing missionary because he loves it so much ❤️
One of my favorite types of drinks here is the vanilla and strawberry milk! It is this crazy guatemalan brand but all the missionaries love it! Some of us also wonder if people spiked the washing machines with it, because some peoples garments are coming out tye dyed pink sometimes haha! We are encouraged to learn between 40 and 80 words a day, so things are moving fast! One of my teachers names is Melanie just like my mom! So it is fun to have a bit of home with me everyday!  Tommorow we are all officially agreeing to "bury our english in a grave" here at the MTC and only speak spanish haha. Anyone who violates the "new law" will have to run around the building 5 times haha. The spanish curriculum can be overwhelming at times, but I know that with the help of the lord, and many moments of being 100 percent gringo, I can learn spanish!

Teaching seminary -- SO WONDERFUL! What a treat to have Kas, Skye and Stefan! So fun to put together treats, and do the "Seminary in my Pocket" gifties that they take with them as reminders. I've never done anything like this before, but just the whole experience of keeping a pulse on the class and trying to be funny yet serious, calm and quiet yet not leave too many open gaps in discussions.. totally challenging and uplifting experience! For sure loving this calling.

End of summer fun...waterpark, FHE's, Comal river floating!

  1. That picture of Kassie at the beach on Bear Lake... Wowza! Like Venus right after she came out of her clam shell.
