DMV, Utah Hair wedding, Hoco ask, Love Seminary, Six Flags, & Zury's family visits Stephen!

Kas has more guts in her little finger than most do in their whole bodies. She proclaimed her joy at getting her license by standing on a chair and solo flash mob singing to the whole DMV.

Loved flying to Utah for Ry and Kaylee's wedding! And exploring beautiful Utah.

General Conference spread! Mom's cool short-hand.

Off to San Antonio to go to Six Flags Fiesta Texas for a long weekend vacation... and we got this wonderful message with videos and pictures of sweet Zury's family finding Stephen... they looked for him for so long! They Skype called us from Guatemala to tell us all about how much they love him and how wonderful he is and how Zury's mom calls him her grandson and they loved shopping for him. Here's Carla's description of finding him.

From Carla:
It was very nice the trip we went to San Felipe at 9 we arrived more or less at 10 am and finally we found the church came to some brothers there Frank and Dona Elois came down to ask if Stephen was there and nobody knew anything about us we worried a lot, then frank took his cell phone to see if he had not sent an email, we left super fast because we were 20 minutes there and we thought we weren't going to see him because they were going to do 11 am and we weren't super fast asking God to find him there.well we finally arrived at the place and we had to go back and grab the other side and it was already 11 am asking God to arrive on time and finally we arrived at the other church asking a lot and found a brother at the door of the church and I asked him of favor if he could find me brother Stephen Chalk and the brother told me if of course just wait a moment since they are praying and I said ehhh we finally found him; they got out of the car and we waited and finally got out and the brother told him they were looking for him and he turned to see me and said loudly huh my family my family because we hugged him very much the very happy could not believe it and well my mother-in-law told them that she invited him to eat and he said that he could not go to eat in public since it was not a day of departure because we told him that we could go and share food and that then we could go to his house to leave them and they were very happy they said today we are going to eat very rich he asked for a Texan burger hehehe and some very spicy chicken nugets ejjej and we went to leave his house we took captain crunch milk cereal nutella bread glasses dishes soap sheets pillows cookies juices and they were very very happy. I think that nobody could believe what we were going through was a lot of tears and he just said my family they are my family .... it was a very wonderful day sorry if I can not tell you just as it happened I am not very good telling stories lol but. believe me Melanie was a day where there was a lot of love and a lot of happiness he could not believe it and we either hehehe you have a wonderful son. we all cried telling everything to zury, she cried a lot of happiness ... we love them very much and we will be going to see very often first God if we told him that what he needed he would tell us please with a lot of confidence we will take him.

Chalk Utah reunion, Boyd cabin, school, & SEMINARY!

Chalk family reunion in Utah! Fun road trip thru Colorado.. 48 cousins/aunts/uncles in all, and prayers for Bill who couldn't make it at the last minute from getting sick! So fun to hang together.

And FINALLY getting to play at Steff B's dream-come-true hidden wilderness cabin!

1ST DAY OF SCHOOL - 8th and 11th grade!

Stephen's enjoying his mission! So fun to chat and see his cute face...I feel like we've never talked this long! He's sounding so mature and sweet and says it's all really not that hard and his Spanish is coming along and he loves it. I haven't heard him sound so relaxed and happy before. Completely at ease, said he loves his mission president more than he can say, he saw his first attractive Latina girl today so that was funny. He is so grateful he has Elder Vargas because he's the best missionary companion ever and totally not lazy like other people apparently are that he hears about, but he knows his time will come to get a companion like that and he knows that will teach him patience. He said he feels like he's changed so much and he's a different person from when he was at home and stressed about everything, he's not as much of a perfectionist now and he would be so totally happy never becoming a district or zone leader or AP, even though lots of people tell him that's what's going to happen. But he just wants to be a proselytizing missionary because he loves it so much ❤️
One of my favorite types of drinks here is the vanilla and strawberry milk! It is this crazy guatemalan brand but all the missionaries love it! Some of us also wonder if people spiked the washing machines with it, because some peoples garments are coming out tye dyed pink sometimes haha! We are encouraged to learn between 40 and 80 words a day, so things are moving fast! One of my teachers names is Melanie just like my mom! So it is fun to have a bit of home with me everyday!  Tommorow we are all officially agreeing to "bury our english in a grave" here at the MTC and only speak spanish haha. Anyone who violates the "new law" will have to run around the building 5 times haha. The spanish curriculum can be overwhelming at times, but I know that with the help of the lord, and many moments of being 100 percent gringo, I can learn spanish!

Teaching seminary -- SO WONDERFUL! What a treat to have Kas, Skye and Stefan! So fun to put together treats, and do the "Seminary in my Pocket" gifties that they take with them as reminders. I've never done anything like this before, but just the whole experience of keeping a pulse on the class and trying to be funny yet serious, calm and quiet yet not leave too many open gaps in discussions.. totally challenging and uplifting experience! For sure loving this calling.

End of summer fun...waterpark, FHE's, Comal river floating!
