Spontaneous decision to spend Halloween in Florida at Disneyworld!

 

 

 

Country Bear Jamboree... so cute! One bear sang a random song about "there's blood on the saddle, and blood all around, and big big puddles of blood on the ground..."  And another of our favorites,

"Momma don't whoop little Beufort, I think you should shoot him instead!"  Wow.

Waiting in line for the new Ariel ride... our least favorite, as the brief slow ride in the clamshell didn't warrant the 1 hour wait, according to the boys... 8-)  But Kas and I liked the scenery! 

We saw this on a church billboard on our trip: "God's refrigerator has your picture on it!"

I went to the temple recently and met a darling lady who gets up at 2:30am to be a temple worker. That, in itself, makes her such a saint.  Then I learned she's retired from being a Post Master, and for 30 years she was Santa Claus, answering kids' letters to Santa and sending them hand-written notes back. So sweet!  I bet her picture on God's fridge has a special star next to it...

"Texas youths issued a family history challenge with promises"

 

About 200 youths gathered in September for Klein Stake's first youth family history conference. In addition to workshops on researching tips first counselor President Tom Kunz issued a challenge with specific blessings should they choose to accept. 

“It was inspiring to imagine all those people on the other side cheering for me individually," said Kassie Chalk, a Beehive in the newly formed Gleannloch Farms Ward.
Kassie’s brother, Stephen, a teacher in the Young Men program, added, "President Kunz's promise was very motivating. It made me feel empowered to know that we'll receive blessings if we put the work into it, if we put our shoulder to the wheel."

 



"Aunt Kassie has Ebola?"

This morning, we headed out to Theiss' "Muffins with Mom", which turned into "McDonalds on Grandma's Bed"...

 

Before we left, I encouraged Kenny to wash his hands really well these days, since they've now found 2 cases of Ebola right here in America, and the symptoms are pretty awful. Then I detailed what happens when you get it, and Kenny got this awful look on his face and said, "but Aunt Kassie has Ebola?"  I didn't realize that when Kas sent a total joke text a few days ago with a picture of her face saying "I think I have Ebola", Kenny saw it on Daron's phone and has been thinking about it ever since! So glad none of us have it... stocking up on canned goods in case we have to quarantine ourselves!

"I thought you said in October I could put up Christmas lights?"

That was Daron's reply when I said that in October, he could take the goodies I had on top of the fridge to his home-teachees.  Guess we're ready for the holidays to come!

Kenny loves his drum lessons with RJ, and Kassie loved going to Aunt Kassie's last YW lesson!

 So much fun being in the stake and working with the young women - helping organize RootsTech was a blast!

The morning after Mom taught a clever repentance FHE (kids listed sins, which was like the blobby ketchup, then we wiped them away), Kenny woke up and his first words were "last night was so much fun... I loved Grandma's FHE lesson!"

 

Kenny was so excited to see his picture in the October Friend! We sent it in 4 years ago and it finally made it... it took 1 yr to get Stephen's in there, 2 for Kas, and now 4. There must be lots of kids mailing them in!

Yesterday we counted all the edible growing things in our yard and were surprised at how many we have... pears, apples, sweet potatoes, watermelons, basil, bananas, peas, raspberries, peanuts, and oranges!

 

 

Jumping into a new school year!

Kenny bounded off to 3rd grade (alone at Theiss Elementary now!) at 8am, then 8th grade Stephen and 6th grade Kassie sauntered into Doerre Intermediate together at 9am... so cute! Totally reminded me of going to high school and college with my siblings - I loved it.
