Gathering to celebrate Dad- my post.
“Your Dad graduated this life with honors!” I’ll never forget that sweet comment from a dear friend five years ago… I miss you Dad ❤️ It’s still hard to believe that this incredible man who fiercely loved his family, made ‘Whimpettes’ and put gasoline on tree trunks then lit them on fire to entertain the grandkids- has been gone for 5 years. But I feel him near us! I vividly remember his funny belly laugh, his love for all animals, his silly dance he always did when my mom sat down to play that one song on the piano, how he loved making homemade root beer for all our birthday parties, always voted without fail— that he served his country in the Air Force as a Staff Sergeant.  We loved his creamed eggs on toast he grilled in his toaster oven. I love that the day before he died, he and Mom came over to visit ~ he sat with me on the couch and we watched Matilda and laughed. And then I cut his hair that day... I asked him if he was feeling good and happy and he said yes I feel great! We always gave hugs and kisses but I wish I would have just squeezed him a little longer that day.  He loved banging rocks with the grandkids on the driveway with hammers. Hiding colorful rocks in the grass for the kids to go find. We cherished hearing his thunderous laugh watching The Big Bang Theory. And he was always so frugal, polishing off leftovers… we had to be stealthy about throwing things away☺️ I loved his ability to relax and be happy wherever he was... his favorite food was ANYTHING- mostly anywhere with a buffet. He especially loved wearing that shirt that said “I like to put ketchup on my ketchup!” My kids enjoyed watching him do his slow steady lap swimming while listening to his books-on-tape underwater in our pool. I love opening up certain books on my shelf and seeing his heartfelt inscription that he wrote with his precious handwriting. I mostly miss going over to visit Mom & Dad in the morning when they were still snuggled in bed and just talking. Both always so interested in everything going on in our lives. THEY ALWAYS HAD TIME FOR ME. And Mom still does... she's such a cute Mother and Grandma. What a treat to have her at our home this weekend to swim and play and reminisce about Dad ❤️ I am so thankful for the Plan of Salvation that gives me the unshakable knowledge that I will see Dad again. I love and miss you dad… Thank you for being the master of joyfulness!

Scouts 1st wedding reception! We love Auntie Sarah Johnson’s fam, Ben & Amanda were cute to invite Scout!
